Dear resident or relative,
Some more information about the roll out of Covid Vaccines
As you will know, the first shipment of doses of the Covid vaccine have now arrived in Australia and the vaccine roll out in aged care will start soon. However we do not have any information on when the vaccine might be available to residents or staff at OLOC.
The Australian Government will be administering vaccines in aged care facilities through contracted providers and they have said that the vaccine process is voluntary. We will contact you as soon as we know when the vaccine will be available at OLOC. In the meantime this is our plan:
Step 1 Sharing Information (this week).
I am including a link to the latest information provided by the Commonwealth Department of Health.
I draw your attention to two documents on the webpage:
I also want to direct you to another government document below this letter, which is:
- Information on Covid-19 Pfizer (Comirnaty) vaccine
We will be providing hard copies of this information to residents this week so that they have some time to consider the information.
Step 2. Seeking approval (next week)
Residents will need to sign an authorisation form if they wish to be vaccinated and if a resident is not able to make an informed choice their primary contact person will need to sign on their behalf. Facility managers will start to distribute authorisation forms next week (the week starting Monday 22 February 2021). Please remember that the vaccination process is voluntary and if a resident has any concerns they should discuss those concerns with their general practitioner before making a decision.
We will contact you as soon as we have more information about the timing of vaccinations at OLOC. If you have any questions about this letter please raise them with your facility manager or with Peter Squire on 9832 5406.
