Our Lady of Consolation Aged Care & Services is an independent not for profit company based in western Sydney. Our residential aged care campus at Rooty Hill is home to over 300 elderly people and we provide home care services across the Western Sydney region; helping over 2000 elderly people so they can stay in their own homes. Our focus is on helping older people be as active and able as they can be, regardless of any underlying health conditions.
We have an exciting opportunity for Leisure and Lifestyle Officer to join our leisure and lifestyle team on a permanent part-time basis to provide a broad range of individual and group activities in our Dementia Specific units.
The team has a strong focus on ‘Wellbeing’ for people (particularly for people with dementia) and the successful applicant will need to have dementia experience, to be flexible and able to adapt to the range of people’s individual needs, including people that have a high level of dependency. You will be required to work closely with a multidisciplinary team of staff to meet the ongoing needs of resident and clients in our care.
The successful applicant will need to be able to demonstrate a genuine liking for elderly people, have experience working with people with dementia, be vibrant, creative, flexible and adaptive, and want a degree of autonomy and responsibility in a job. If that describes you, we will actively support you, and we can guarantee that you will find the role both challenging and fulfilling.
You will need to be able to work within a philosophy of care that strongly supports the dignity of elderly people. Comprehensive orientation and training will be provided to the successful candidate. A knowledge of and/or experience in providing leisure activities tailored for a variety of individuals including those with dementia will be highly regarded.
