Our Lady of Consolation Housing has a concern for older people who are in precarious accommodation situations because they have incomes at or below the level of the aged pension and they are renting in the private housing market.
We commissioned demographic research which suggests that in our community care catchment area there are approximately 4750 people 60 years of age in this situation. We recently purchased land at Toongabbie and we are exploring the potential to provide some low rental housing accommodation options for older people.
