About Us
Our Lady Of Consolation Aged Care & Services is a proud and independent Not-For-Profit organisation housing up to 300 elderly residents based in Rooty Hill in Sydney’s Western Suburbs. We also provide home care services to up to 2000 elderly residents across the Sydney Metro Region assisting them to remain in their homes for longer. Our focus is on helping the elderly to be as active and able as they can be, regardless of their underlying health conditions.
The Role
You will join a team responsible for providing high quality clinical services that facilitate a positive health outcome for residents. You will ensure clinical care is delivered in accordance with each resident’s individual care needs, organisational policies, and best practice guidelines. Working closely with nurses and care staff, you will be given the opportunity to assist in the management and coordination of the team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in resident assessments and provide the highest quality of resident care and support in accordance with individual care plans
- Coordinating the work of EN’s and care staff to provide consistent support and advice and delegating care tasks
- Completing rounds monitoring resident conditions and needs, and adjusting care plans in consultation with associated staff
- Liaise with relevant staff to coordinate appointments for residents with allied health professionals, specialist practitioners and ambulance
- Carrying out specialised clinical care needs in accordance with organisational policies and best practice including the administration of medications, application of eye drops, injections, analgesics, lotions and creams, dressings and bandages, gastric feeds, testing blood glucose levels, maintaining resident fluids and ensuring that relevant tests are completed or supervised
Essential Criteria
- Qualified Nurse registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
- Previous experience working in an aged care environment and an understanding of relevant aged and community care sector legislation, standards and guidelines is desirable
- Demonstrated experience working with elderly people is desirable
- Strong focus on resident wellbeing and be able to adapt your work practices to a range of resident needs
Please note the successful applicant must be willing to undergo a Medical/Functional Assessment, Criminal History Check, and have three (3) Covid injections documented by the time of commencement.
